- Pray for the persecuted, for those who are violated, imprisoned, beaten, tortured, and killed. Many Christians are persecuted daily around the world for following Christ. We ask that you lift them up week after week as the persecutions continue. Do we remember to pray for them daily or even weekly? We cannot physically help everyone that is oppressed but we can pray collectively for all who are persecuted. The church earnestly prayed for Peter when he was imprisoned, and his chains fell off and he was set free. This should encourage us to pray as our prayers change outcomes. Per Worthy News, “West Africa Suffered 1,800 Terror Attacks in First Half of 2023.” Deaths, people fleeing their homes due to violence, and millions of people in need of food. Also reported last week, “Hundreds of thousands of people, including many devoted Christians, are believed to suffer in labor camps where they face torture and possible execution.” Pray that our Christian brothers and sisters around the work are not crushed and that they can stay strong and run the race.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 – “Isn’t it obvious that all runners on the racetrack keep on running to win, but only one receives the victor’s prize? Yet each one of you must run the race to be victorious.” We run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever.”
- Pray for people to Go Back to Church. Apple News reported last week from ‘The Atlantic,’ publication, “Forty million Americans have stopped attending Church in the past 25 years.” This is about 12% of the population and the largest change in church attendance in American history. They go on to say, “participation in a religious community generally correlates with better health outcomes and longer life, higher financial generosity and more stable families – all of which are desperately needed in a nation with rising rates of loneliness, mental illness and alcohol and drug dependency.” Pray for people to come to church, invite them to church. Pray that pastors will deliver the Word of God and that the congregations will walk out the Word of God. Pray for our families and pray for chains of addiction to be broken.
Hebrews 10:25 – “Let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.”
Continue to pray for Ukraine.
