Compassion – A Hurting World

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Matthew 9:36
Jesus showed compassion to the children of Israel, but also included the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:4-26), the Roman Centurion (Matthew 8:5-13), tax collectors, those in need of physical and spiritual healings, the orphans, widows, and sinners.
We need to pray for and show compassion, as God leads us, through prayer to “. . .look after orphans and widows in their distress. . .” (James 1:27 (in part). We must heed the words found in Deuteronomy 10:17-10, “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.” In Matthew 11:4 & 5, “Jesus replied, Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”
Lift up the hurting world to Our Father in Heaven: “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3:22-23)
Pray for Human Suffering to end, “Lean to do right: seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17
