Post – August 16, 2026
- Pray for people in Columbia, South America.
A powerful earthquake struck Columbia last week, killing at least one hundred sixty-four people, destroying buildings, and disrupting airports. Pray for those who lost loved ones, for the injured, for the rescue workers, and for the rebuilding from the devastation.
Psalm 34:17,18 – “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
- Pray for the Russian/Ukrainian War to end.
Russia intensified attacks on Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea this past week, threatening global food supplies. Pray for the end to the killing and destruction caused by this war. Pray for Ukrainian children, in Russian occupied areas of Ukraine, as Russia is using education to teach grades 6 through 11 to be loyal to the Kremlin and teaching military skills to turn them against their own people.
Psalm 34:19,21 – “A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.”
- Continue prayers for Israel.
Israel is demanding surrender of all Hamas weapons, they want Hamas to disappear not just have their armed forces rearranged. Pray for an end to terrorist activity and for peace and salvations in Israel.
Psalm 33:12 – “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.”
Psalm 122:6,7 – “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace withing your walls and security within your citadels.”
- Pray for relief from the Heatwaves.
Pray for Europe’s heatwave to end as weather driven renewable energy systems are facing concerns as hot temperatures and lack of wind persists.
Psalm 121:1,2 – “I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from my help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
- Pray for Christian freedoms.
Pray for Christians in countries where they are persecuted.
Pray for Christians in countries where freedom of speech and religious liberty in public life is being questioned. Such is the case in Brimingham, England where a Christian motorist was told to remove a “Jesus loves you” message from his car or his automobile insurance would be cancelled. This was not an abusive message, a hateful political slur, or a commercial advertisement, but a message of hope. Pray for societies and people who desire to remove Jesus.
Isaiah 5:20,21 – “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.”
- Pray for abortions to end, everywhere.
This past week the governor of Massachusetts, U.S., signed into law making abortions legal up to birth. This is the tenth state in the country to pass this law. Pray for people to choose life and for an end to abortion options. Pray for hearts to change regardless of laws and that parents will desire to keep their children.
Psalm 139:13,14 – “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.”
Psalm 127:3-5a – “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”
- Continue to pray for abortion to end everywhere. Continue to pray for Israel.
